I spent the afternoon at Santa Monica beach with friends. The day was perfect, hazy yes, but not chilly in the least and not hot or even humid and the haze seemed to make the water sparkle.
We discussed going to Catalina in a sailboat which would be such a dream for me as I have always wanted to go there...especially on a private sailboat with friends...seems the way to do it.
When I think on the history of Catalina, I can't help but be reminded of Natalie Wood and how she loved Catalina and spent so much time on the island and ultimately, found her demise there. I did some digging around and found some lovely shots of her I thought I would share.
She is a real style inspiration for me...makes me happy to be a dark-eyed brunette.
I especially love her 60's look...tons of lashes and eyeliner with exotic touches in her jewelry and
styling.
One sad story which explains her love of chunky oversized jewelry I read in the bio Natasha involved her controlling stage mother and the filming of "The Green Promise" as a child.

She tricked Natalie into doing a dangerous water stunt which left Natalie with a broken left wrist and she almost drowned. She never took Natalie to a doctor- fearing the studio would blacklist Natalie- and the bone healed in a misshapen way.
For the rest of her life, Natalie feared water, hated her misshapen wrist and fanatically always wore a close-fitting larger bangle on her left wrist.

I adore her--and check out your matching eyelashes! My favorite is that gold mesh exotic one. super. Whenever I see Natasha I'm always so surprised by there similar mannerisms.

Natalie will always be my all time favorite female star. Her death was tragic and I still feel it today.
She was so beautiful. I am so sorry her mother mistreated her so. No wonder she feared water. I believe she was murdered.

I once met Natalie Wood and got her autograph. Back in the late 1960s or early 70s. She was campaigning for some politician here in NYC. Gorgeous. Simply beautiful.
Wore a red dress with white poka dots. Never let my memory.
